Where to Stay in Paris 7th District
J.K. Place Paris ★★★★★
82 Rue de Lille
Sumptuous fabrics, custom Italian furniture, and one-of-a-kind antiques and art make the 29-guestroom J.K. Place Paris an opulent 5-star retreat in a desirable 7th arrondissement location close to the Musée d'Orsay and the Seine River. Each room features a different look, so you'll get a fresh aesthetic experience each time you stay while continuing to enjoy the luxury retreat's top amenities and service.
The hotel's serene indoor swimming pool, a fully-equipped gym featuring high-end equipment, and a Sisley spa give you plenty of reasons not leave this former embassy during your stay in Paris - but with Eiffel Tower about a 10-minute walk away and the Louvre, Orangerie Museum, and Tuileries Garden just on the other side of the Seine, you're in an ideal location to enjoy the City of Light.
Le Derby Alma ★★★★
8 Avenue Rapp
If you're looking for Paris hotels near the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars, take a close look at Le Derby Alma, a chic 4-star boutique hotel located in a charming part of the upscale 7th District, just a 5-minute walking distance to the "Iron Lady" and and the Quai Branly Museum.
The hotel's 33 guestrooms and suites make a fashion statement with sleek elegant furnishings, lush fabrics, and beautiful flattering colors. For a special treat, request a room or suite with a balcony and perhaps an Eiffel Tower view.
Be sure to explore all of the wonderful boutiques and galleries along Rue de la Université and Rue Saint-Dominique, and try as many of the wonderful neighborhood cafés and restaurants as you can squeeze into your itinerary.
Also nearby are the Musée Rodin and the fabulous Bon Marché department store.
Hôtel d'Orsay ★★★★
93 Rue de Lille
Located just 500 feet from the Orsay Museum, 4-star Hôtel d'Orsay's exceptionally convenient location close to the Seine gives you easy access to all of Paris's top attractions as well as to all the wonderful small bistros, jazz clubs, and designer boutiques in the lovely and historic Saint Germain de Prés neighborhood.
Occupying a late 17th century building once owned by Napoleon Bonaparte's surgeon, the hotel took its present shape after an extensive renovation created 42 comfortable guest rooms featuring modern decor and lovely original art from the same period (and in some cases, the same artists) that you'll see at the Orsay Museum.
Other nearby attractions include Tuileries Garden and the Louvre Museum, the Orangerie Museum where you can see Monet's famous water lily paintings, and the Rodin Museum. The Eiffel Tower is about a 10-minute walk away.
Cler Hôtel ★★★
Located on Rue Cler, the 3-star Cler Hotel is just a short stroll to the magnificent Champs de Mars and the Eiffel Tower stands, and even closer to Invalides where you can visit Napoleon's tomb and the Army Museum. You'll love the Cler Hotel's perfect combination of comfort, top location, and budget-conscious rates!
With only 26 rooms, this comfortable boutique hotel offers a soothing, harmonious environment with sophisticated light wood floors, an antique marble fireplace int the lobby, and appealing warm colors. Furnishings are modern with a slight Deco twist, but all the comforts including air conditioning are strictly 21st century.
La Comtesse Hotel ★★★★
29 Avenue de Tourville, 7th arrondissement; nearest metro: Ecole Militaire
Whether you want to gaze at the Eiffel Tower from your hotel balcony, watch the Bastille Day fireworks without being part of the massive crowds on the ground, or have just a short walk when you visit the famous Iron Lady, Hotel La Comtesse gives you the ideal location.
The hotel's location near the southeast corner of Champ de Mars and its "V" shape not only provides excellent sightlines from its 40 guestrooms but allows the hotel to make a phenonemal claim: all guestrooms provide either full-on frontal or side views of the Eiffel Tower (as well as other Paris monuments such as the Invalides dome).
You'll get the best full or side views if you book a room with a balcony, and perhaps the very best is the type of room I had: "Comtesse Room with Balcony." (Room #506, to be precise.)
In my room, the balcony wrapped around the pointed end of the building, so I can tell you that the side views from 5th floor balconies are also excellent.
Hotel La Comtesse features simple but luxurious contemporary decor in the guestrooms, elegant public spaces, an onsite coffeeshop/cafe, and a fitness room.
Rates are reasonable, considering what you get, although of course higher (at times, much higher) in summer than in winter.
The location gives you easy access to the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides (where the Army Museum and Napoleon's tomb are located, the appealing Rue Cler market street, Bon Marché, the Rodin and Branly Museums, the Seine River, and lots more place you'll want to explore.
1.75 Paris La Trêve ★★★★
5 Avenue de Lowendal, 7th arrondissement
If you want to stay near the Eiffel Tower and can't decide between the amenities and service of a luxurious 4-star hotel or staying in a Paris apartment with plenty of space to spread out (especially if you're visiting with a large family or friend group), La Trêve may be exactly what you're looking for.
The 5-floor hotel offers five very spacious apartments, each with 3 or 4 bedrooms to sleep up to 6 or 8 guests (perfect for large families and friend groups). Plus, each floor also includes a "pod" of 3 or 4 suites (there are 17 in total, each with accommodations for up to 2 or 4 guests) organized around a shared living room, kitchen, and dining area - so you get the amenities of an apartment but you share them with a few others.
A butler prepares and brings breakfast to each dining area every morning. Guests can fix lunch or dinner, if they wish, in their apartment's or pod's kitchen - super-easy to do, thanks to the nearby famed Rue Cler market street which practically overflows with delicious prepared foods, rotiserrie chickens, produce, a wonderful cheese vendor, bakery treats, and wine shops.
Of course, the neighborbood also offers plenty of excellent cafes and bistros if you prefer to dine out.
The hotel's ground floor includes an onsite bakery and a restaurant headed by a Michelin-starred chef.
Another plus: La Trêve's location is on the "park" side of the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides (site of the Army Museum and Napoleon's Tomb), so while you're close to these top attractions as well as smaller specialty museums and superb shopping opportunities, you're not in the midst of the crowds of tourists that congregate on the river side.
A nearby metro station gives you easy access to the rest of the city, plus you can also walk down to the Seine and hop on the Batobus at the stop in front of the Eiffel Tower for a day or two of explorations along the Seine.
Although we haven't had a chance to stay at La Trêve yet, it's definitely on our "future visits" list!
